The project consisted of developing a construction system that would allow the concept to be reproduced on other sites. We developed a principle of modular prefabricated metal elements for all the constructional elements (grating walls, roofs, doors). The system developed makes it possible to reproduce this type of shelter in other sites, with mass-produced construction elements, thus reducing production costs.
The project was also developed with an economic objective in terms of cost, and with a high resistance to stress, being located in a school with a large number of students.
The aim of the project was also to integrate the bicycle shelters into the remarkable architecture of the school, which was designed by the Designlab Architecture office, headed by Inès Lamunière. The materials used, concrete and steel, are inspired by the existing elements of the college, to maintain a built unity on the whole site, and to minimize the intervention from a visual point of view.
